After seven years of use, buying a second one

I've had this model of mirror for the last seven years until I broke it (my fault.) Once used to using it can't think of not having it. One hint, at least for a road bike, position the mirror so you can see your ear. That will be about the right position when on your bike. I've had no problems with the glue backed Velcro type attachment to my helmet. The Velcro is really strong so be careful if removing from your helmet. I always keep it on my helmet.

Mount on OUTSIDE of helmet. Better than Blackburn mirror...

A rear view mirror is a MUST for anyone riding with traffic.

HELMET mirrors are NOT for everyone as they do require some getting used to. It took me at least 2-3 rides before I got used to it. I've been using one since 2003 and do not feel safe without one.

Helmet mirrors do a better job as you can still have a blind spot with the bicycle mounted mirrors - I have my helmet mirror set so I can see my shoulder and the side of my head. This gives me a clear view of traffic behind and to my right. By turning my head 30 degrees to my right, I completely "sweep" to all lanes on my left side.

I've tried this and the Blackburn helmet mirror. This one is definitely better.

MINUS
- Does not remove (the Blackburn pops off the base so you can remove it offroading, for example. Don't lose it!)

PLUS
- Shorter arm is stiffer than Blackburn (it's an I-Beam section)
- Adjustment range is better than Blackburn
- Lighter mirror vibrates less than Blackburn

Note: The helmets I have used them on are the Giro Atmos, Giro Animas, Bell Forza II and Bell Phi II

Works great, but don't use the velcro...

Consistent with other reviews, I found that the Velcro attachment method resulted in direct contact pressure of the mounting bracket with my head. Not good. Furthermore, the Velcro is so stiff that it is nearly impossible to separate without ripping the pad off the helmet. This makes the Velcro attachment method pretty much useless.

Taking a cue from the other reviewers, I removed the Velcro pad from the mounting bracket, cleaned it and the helmet well, then proceeded to use hot glue to mount the mirror. This, my friends, works great and is quite secure.

It took me a few rides to get used to the mirror; I used to use a bar-end mirror on my road bike. But once I got used to it, it works quite well. This mirror allows me to keep my eyes on the road. It also allows me to view behind me even when I'm standing on the pedals, hammering up hills.
